This important role will assist in the development and management of the Village’s external and internal communication, graphic design projects, website content, social media and marketing applications, photography, cable channel broadcast programming, slide production as well as Village mobile application maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include providing production of communication and marketing materials for a wide range of projects produced by the Communications and Marketing Division including print, web, broadcast, and multi-media; ideates, designs, and produces required content and communication materials; and tracks, follow up and completes outstanding projects/tasks with excellent customer service and best practices.

 

This position also assists in creating and producing marketing collateral and develop content to promote on social platforms; creates and implements website content and designs; ensures content layout is accessible; conceptualizes and implements creative ideas for Village social media channels; creates visual elements that are in line with Village branding; and communicates brand awareness widely throughout the Village via internal and external media and resources.

 

Additionally, this role will update and maintain existing websites and database applications, including routine edits, content additions; test web pages and apps for functionality in different browsers and at different resolutions; investigates and reports on operational, technical issues and content issues and coordinates and/or resolves issues; and recommends website improvements.

 

This position will also analyze and report web and social media traffic weekly as well as monthly; provides day to day review of websites/apps specific to their functional areas, provides guidance and assistance in ensuring sites meet Village standards and function properly; evaluates, troubleshoots, and escalates support tickets quickly and efficiently; writes documentation, reports, correspondence, and emails as needed; and other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

A Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing or other related field of study is required. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Microsoft Office, TeamViewer, computer networking methods.

Experience in website maintenance and design (HTML, Granicus and WordPress skills to update and create pages) and social media management tools (Hootsuite/Canva) is desired; or any combination of education, experience, and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above.

 

The ideal candidate must be a self-starter and possess strong organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively and easily change tasks.

 

In addition, this role must have working knowledge of professional camera products and associated equipment or proficiency to train to establish, knowledge of Adobe products, WordPress, and interactive hardware (touchscreens, tablets, mobile devices). Knowledge of Granicus (GovAccess/GovDelivery) desirable; knowledge of Google website analytics and key performance indicators, preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

The Village of Orland Park's competitive salary and benefits package consists of an annual salary of $48,822 - $62,776, depending on experience & qualifications, along with a comprehensive employee benefits and wellness program which includes four (4) medical insurance plan options; village-sponsored dental, vision, and life insurance plan; a discounted membership to our Sportsplex facility; enrollment in IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund, in addition to the opportunity for voluntary participation in a 457(b) plan through Nationwide.
