Mature.....Compassionate.....Organized.......Outgoing........Experienced.......Fun-loving.....individuals are needed to lead the Village of Orland Park Special Recreation Camp team throughout the 2024 Camp Season!  We are currently seeking education, recreation and therapeutic majors and those who love to work with children and individuals with special needs to join our summer camp programming that is committed to meeting unique individual leisure time needs.   Catering to the protection, safety, and enrichment of our enrollees is the #1 focus in this highly engaging role as Assistant Site Director!  

In this rewarding position you will:

• actively engage in and supervise camp programs, while providing general oversight for inclusion services;
• attend scheduled weekly inclusion placements for camp services;
• monitoring staff assignments in inclusive settings at designated camps;
• act as lead staff in daily situations, which include parent conversations, emergent transportation issues, sudden illness and maintaining staff/participant ratios.

The ideal candidate possesses a minimum of two years working with participants in special education/recreation, therapeutic recreation, recreation management or related field.  Experience/training in implementing behavior management techniques and having knowledge of cognitive and developmental impairments is highly preferred. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with prior experience with ADLs along with sensory and/or auditory specialization.

A high school diploma is required with a strong preference of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in the recreation or therapeutic recreation fields. Must have a valid driver's license and the availability to commit to Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm with a possible weekend shift as needed.

The hourly rate for this position is $17.03.
