    The Village of Orland Park's Recreation Department offers many programs to support the needs of our community.  Our acclaimed Preschool Program is designed to offer a fun environment that is positive, supervised, safe and filled with activities for children 3-5 years of age. This program is one of the longest running preschool programs in the area creating a well-rounded academic foundation.  It offers a daily snack, organized games, crafts, monthly field trips and much more so parents can rest assured their children are enjoying structured preschool activities and you can make a difference in their experience.  We are currently seeking an energetic, dedicated professional to oversee the Preschool Program as a Program Coordinator.

    Key Responsibilities

    This position is responsible for the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of programming for the Preschool Program as well as planning special events.  The role will also coordinate staffing needs including assisting with recruitment, staff evaluations and providing direct/indirect supervision of program instructors and inclusion support. 

    Additional responsibilities include overseeing the administrative function of the program by completing accident reports, timesheets, registration forms, newsletters, and communication boards, as well as providing oversight of related program expenditures including maintaining, ordering and/or shopping for supplies, while ensuring compliance to budget and prepare all necessary purchase requisitions. 


    Coordinating the availability of fleet vehicles and presiding over all transportation needs for the program, including but not limited to scheduling routes, drivers, participant changes and serving as back-up CDL or van driver is an important factor of this position. 


    Regular communication with parents and program participants to provide information, answer questions and address issues is also key to this role.







    Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

    The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 - 5 years of experience in the recreation or education field along with a minimum of 2 years of related administrative experience.  An Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field is also required. 


    Enthusiam to work children and the ability to plan, supervise and evaluate programs, combined with strong oral, written and organizational skills is a must.  Profiency in MS Office is required. 


    CPR and First Aid certifications must be obtained within 3 months if not current upon hire.  Must have a clean driving record and obtain an Illinois Class "C" CDL with passenger bus (P) endorsement within one (1) year of employment.
