The Village of Orland Park's Business Information Systems Department seeks a part-time Website and Mobile App Administrator who has the ability to think on their feet, be creative and successfully integrate technology and information. This position will be instrumental assisting the department in achieving organizational technology initiatives and will perform services relevant to the Village's website and mobile applications.
The Administrator is responsible for the technical administration, design, development and management of the Village’s Website (HTML5) and Mobile Application (IOS/Android) to ensure simplicity of navigation and ease of use. This position will also be responsible for insuring all content meets standards and requirements set by management and in accordance with the Village’s branding initiatives from conception to completion. Works with staff regarding the day to day management of the websites/apps specific to their functional areas, provides guidance and assistance in ensuring sites meet village standards and function properly.
This position will also ensure reliability of these applications, provide technical and professional recommendations in solving problems that can develop during, implementation, modifications, conversions, and upgrades. Analyzes feasibility and ease of adoption of these applications both current and future desired needs.
Uses best practices in website design to maintain site appearance and usability, create design prototypes, including graphic design, site navigation, and layout of content. Also creates and implements website designs including banners and rich-media. Ensures content layout is accessible. Communicates brand awareness.
Updates and maintains existing websites and database applications, including routine edits, text updates, and adding PDF, links, and photographs. Tests web pages and apps for functionality in different browsers and at different resolutions. Investigates and reports on operational, technical issues and content issues and coordinates and/or resolves issues. Recommends website improvements.
Writes, maintains and supports IOS and Android applications.
Demonstrates village values of integrity, communication, teamwork, professionalism, and quality of life. Exhibits commitment to the principles and practices and implementation of HPO and Lean concepts and continuous improvement.
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Digital Media, Graphic Design, Marketing, Web Development, Information Technology or related area. Proven related website/ mobile app content administrator experience is required. Experience in website maintenance and design (Strong HTML, CSS, PHP and WordPress skills to update and create pages) and social media management tools is also needed, along with the ability to troubleshoot HTML/CSS. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office is preferred. Strong typography, photo editing, and imaging skills are also needed.
Must have working knowledge of Google products, Apple developer tools (MDM, app store, core location, Xcode), and interactive hardware (touchscreens, tablets, mobile devices).
Must be a self-starter with strong organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously In addition, must be easy going with a good attitude and have the ability to work in a team and provide excellent service/guidance to management and staff village wide.
Two plus years website and/or mobile app production and design experience working on high traffic websites, IOS and Android App Development for Mobile and Tablets, experience with X-Code and the iPhone development platform and RESTful API Development & app integration is highly preferred.
Must be available during regular business hours 20-29 hours per week.
