The Village of Orland Park’s Public Works department seeks a self-starter who enjoys analytical, technical, and project management work; finding efficiencies; and working in teams to fill our Management Analyst position. The Management Analyst will perform complex statistical analysis of various aspects that affect the Public Works department. This position would suit someone who is an intellectually curious analyzer excited to dive into large and complex data sets and thrive on finding meaningful insights that can continuously improve our organization. This position is also responsible for providing coverage for various administrative functions of the department. Administrative functions are related to budgeting, human resources, clerical and systems maintenance and implementation. An ideal candidate would have excellent writing, analytical, communication skills, and is also technologically savvy. Assisting with the implementation of a work order management system will be an initial key project of this position.
This position will assist the Public Works management/supervisory team in the analysis, explanation and representation of complex operational and directive driven initiatives. Comparative analysis will also be expected before the implementation of various projects and departmental undertakings. Examples of the types of analysis required may include the coordination and management of priority projects to increase efficiency and effectiveness; providing cost benefit analysis to ensure sound fiscal decision-making; providing analysis to reduce departmental operational and maintenance costs. A consistent challenge will be the need to manage a multi-faceted workload while meeting multiple deadlines associated with consistently evolving priorities and directives.
interpreting, and preparing data and proposals for studies, reports and recommendations; preparing communications including presentations to supervisors, boards, commissions, civic groups and the general public; managing the Village Performance Measurement program; assisting in the preparation of annual budget requests and responding to citizen and employee inquiries. The position is an integral part of Administration and Human Resources and handles highly sensitive and/or confidential information requiring a high level of discretion, managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to work under stress and with minimal supervision.
Graduation from a four year college or university with major course work in finance, research, public administration, business administration, writing or a related field is required, master degree preferred. Two (2) to five (5) years of related professional experience (may include an internship depending on combination of education and experience) is also necessary. Previous government or nonprofit experience preferred. This position requires a strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Extensive understanding of office software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, spreadsheet creation/manipulation and database software such as Excel and Access is mandatory.
Annual salary starting at $57,158.40 depending on qualifications. This full-time position is eligible for the Village of Orland Park’s comprehensive employee benefits program which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and an employee wellness program. Retirement benefits through the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) are provided along with the option to participate in a 457(b) plan with options through Nationwide, ICMA-RC, Mass Mutual, or AXA Advisors.
