The Village of Orland Park's Business Information Systems seeks a part-time Information Technician II who has the ability to think on their feet and problem solve under pressure. This position will assist the department in achieving organizational technology initiatives and perform services relevant to the Village's computer, server, software, and network systems.
This position will respond to incoming requests in a timely manner and track 100% support for all employees with in-house ticketing system supporting devices and users on a Windows network comprising of Windows PC’s and laptops, Active Directory and Exchange, and providing basic technical support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security.
In addition, this position will administer, configure and set-up and deploy PC/Apple hardware, software, and peripheral equipment either hands-on or remotely. Gathers computer hardware and software specifications and contacts vendors and lan and execute hardware/software upgrades as necessary.
Assists with network administration functions to include assessing and resolving problems arising from server hardware, workstation network connectivity, and Microsoft server operating systems. Specifies, configures, installs, and maintains local area network hardware, software, and telecommunications services such as personal computers, system software, printers, servers, routers, switches, modems, fax devices, cabling and Internet connectivity.
Maintains Village audio/visual systems to include setup and configuration of systems used for presentations. Provides staff support for setting up Audio/Visual presentations.
Accurately and meticulously documents Business Information Technology related procedures performed. Documents IT related maintenance and installation procedures both graphically and textually. Creates spreadsheets and databases for department related needs.
Support antivirus and other security tools.
An Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other related technical field, with a Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum one- three (1-3) years of experience with PC/mobile hardware diagnosis, software setup and troubleshooting is required. Basic server 2008/2012 r2 and networking exposure, mobile device support (Windows & OSx), Windows 7/10 support, Microsoft Office 2010, active directory basics, familiarity with networking technologies, especially Ethernet, VPN, WIFI, TCP/IP, DHCP and DNS, Detail oriented, organized, and able to keep track of multiple projects and issues independently, working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Must have the ability to follow through and insure that a request is completed correctly the first time.
Cisco CCENT, Network +, CompTIA, Microsoft Certified Professional, Microsoft Technology Specialist or equivalent technical certification is preferred. A valid State of Illinois Driver’s License is required.
While performing this job the employee is required to frequently walk, sit, and type as well as to occasionally lift, carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally push and pull up to 50 pounds. The employee will occasionally crawl, complete over-head work, bend stoop, kneel, stand, drive, twist, squat, and climb. The employee is also required to continuously work at a computer. In addition, this position is required to work in various Village facilities, driving a Village vehicle to conduct work is required.
