The Village of Orland Park's Recreation Department offers many programs to support the needs of our community. Our acclaimed Preschool Program is designed to offer a fun environment that is positive, supervised, safe and filled with activities for children 3-5 years of age. This program is one of the longest running preschool programs in the area creating a well-rounded academic foundation. It offers a daily snack, organized games, crafts, monthly field trips and much more so parents can rest assured their children are enjoying structured preschool activities and you can make a difference in their experience.
As a Preschool Instructor, you will supervise/implement various activities and lesson plans designed to provide children 3-5 years of age the opportunity to develop skills needed for individual learning and play while providing a well-balanced program to meet their physical, mental, social and emotional needs. Instructors also provide instruction in motor coordination and academics in preparation for kindergarten. This position will plan activities including arts & crafts, games, holiday parties and field trips with emphasis on motor coordination and socialization. This position will provide a positive approach to learning in all areas with children, parents and co-workers.
Most importantly, instructors will ensure a fun preschool experience for all program participants while ensuring their safety.
High school diploma is required. A bachelor's or associate's degree in early childhood development is preferred. A minimum of one year of experience working with children 3-5 years of age is also required. Must have a high standard of personal conduct, genuine liking for children and the ability to communicate on the pre-school level. A high level of enthusiasm and creativity is also required.
Days and hours are based on scheduled classes. Immediate availability for the following class session:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 8:30am to 12:00pm; Tuesday, Thursday from 8:45am to 11:45am
Approximately 20 hours per week from September through May.
